The Lagos State Government has restated its commitment to continue to have working relationship with professional social media bloggers in order to enhance prompt news dissemination in the State.


The Commissioner, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde disclosed this on Thursday during a courtesy visit to his Office at the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, by the Guild of Professional Bloggers in Nigeria, saying the partnership will not only enhance information dissemination to target audience but also improve beneficial business collaboration between the government and the organisation.

While commending the Bloggers for the historic visit and for being in the fore front of online information dissemination, Ayorinde affirmed government’s readiness to partner the Guild for sustainable online news while also urging them to liaise with ICT, Social Media and the Public Enlightenment Directorates of the Ministry for necessary information on government activities.

The Commissioner also stated that the Lagos Television, Radio Lagos, Eko FM and the State Traffic Radio should be considered as partners for prompt information dissemination.

He however enjoined them as information managers to make news verification an utmost priority for credibility before dissemination without fear or favour, but cautioned the members to avoid friction with other bloggers, individuals or public officers in the line of duty.


Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Fola Adeyemi stated that the present administration places high premium on new media for effective and efficient dissemination of information on its policies and programmes.

He therefore implored the leadership of the Guild of Professional Bloggers in Nigeria to see Lagos State Ministry of Information & Strategy as a professional partner with the view of cultivating harmonious working relationship.

Responding, the Acting President of the Guild of Professional Bloggers of Nigeria and leader of the team, Mr. Chris Kehinde Nwandu commended the State Government for being in the fore front of online news and social media information dissemination platform in Nigeria.

He expressed the Guild’s readiness to partner with the Ministry on broad base issues including online information dissemination across the State and beyond.
